If one is certain to have been infected (even within the window period) what care should one take? Is there any kind of traditional medication in ayurveda or homeopathy or any other medical science that one can take to slow down the process of replication of the virus and postpone the need to start taking anti-retrovirals?

I am not sure how one is sure one is infected without a positive HIV antibody test--so, first I would suggest confirming that HIV infection has occurred.
If so, there have been many medications other than traditionally approved pharmaceuticals, and these have met with varying degrees of success. Some have used Chinese medicine (including acupuncture), other herbal therapies, meditation and visualization, nutrition, and a list which actually goes into the dozens, if not more. I suggest that if you actually do have documented HIV, that you consult a provider with experience in these. I would not recommend one over the other, as there are no large trials comparing them, or even measuring their true efficacy.
