Question:

Hi,
I need help and my HIV MD of 17 years retired and currently have a different doctor. I have had HIV for 20 years...

Recently I've developed severe Urinary Retention (Foley Catheter given during ER visit), tried various BHP rx's all of which did not help.

On RXList.com it states that Norvir can cause "Dysuria" and "Urinary Retention". It's included in my combination.

Have you ever heard of people taking Norvir as part of their Combination, (i.e. Reyataz)...that had developed acute Urinary Retention?
Thank you so very much.

I think that it is very unlikely that your urinary retention is HAART-related or Norvir-related. Because of the interaction with Norvir, other drugs may have elevated blood levels so check what other drugs you are taking and if they might interact with Norvir.

Otherwise, you may need a procedure to shrink your prostate such as a TURP or diathermy--discuss this with a Urologist.
