I am a young girl of 25 and I am positive and i've been taking my ARV drugs for a year now. I am engaged and planning to get married. I've told him about my status and he didn't mind because he loves me. But, I am afraid and I've been wondering if we can have sex without a condom when we want to make babies? Can I have a vaginal delivery?
Hi, and congratulations on your plans for marriage, it's just wonderful that medicine has advanced, along with your determination, to give you a full life.
I can't recommend unprotected sex for pregnancy. The theoretical risk of a man getting HIV from a woman with good control of her viral load is probably fairly low, but it is not zero, and I think the risk of infection is too real.
I would discuss options for getting pregnant with his sperm from a gynecologist or fertility specialist. It shouldn't be to difficult.
The safest way for your baby is still going to be a caesarian delivery.
