Is it possible for someone to live a normal expected lifespan with HAART or is that being over optimistic? Also, do you think they will ever find a cure for HIV or is this virus to clever to be eradicated?
The European "Aquitaine" study does suggest that people living with HIV with a good response to HAART will live an lifespan statistically similar to HIV negatives. I think we need to plan for this.
Viruses are not "clever." the are guided by selective pressures, not by intelligence. Water is not smart, but it finds it's way down hill because of forces applied to it.
I believe a cure is possible, and with luck, perhaps I will see it in my own lifetime. In the meantime, I live in the joy of the progress that has been made.
