Question:

I had unprotected sex and oral sex with few guys and on some occcasion they ejaculated in my mouth At that time I may have some mouth ulcers. I also had an anal penentration test that showed I had microscopic haematuria and the docotrs want to test me for mycobacterium and acid fast bacteria . It was also written as distal ureteric stenosis.

Can you tell me what are the possibilities of me getting HIV?

Answer provided by:

John Barrow, M.D.

Dear reader;
HIV infection does not produce any specific symptoms, and it only allows other diseases to show up years after primary infection.

Because of this, your symptoms and health problems don't give me any indication that you might or might not have HIV. The only way to make the diagnosis of HIV infection is by getting an HIV test.

If you have had unprotected sex, especially unprotected receptive anal sex, you may be at risk for HIV infection. I would stress again that there is nothing to make me think that you have HIV or not, based on what you have told me, but your sexual history does suggest that you are at risk, and should be tested

I would strongly suggest that you get tested, soon.

If you are negative, you will sleep better, and if positive, you can begin to take care of yourself so that you can live a long, healthy life.
