Question:

I have been taking Retrovir 300mg., Viread 300mg., Sustiva 600mg., Wellbutrin SR 150mg. My t-cells are 911 and the virus is undetectable. I have been HIV+ since 4/99. The only part that I have trouble dealing with is the facial wasting. I recently quit my job and got put on SDI for depression. Another doctor gave me Remeron 15mg. It should help me deal with the depression and also make me more hurngry.

Will taking the Remeron make the current meds that I am taking less effective? The doctor that gave me the Remeron knows about the current meds that I am taking.
Thank-you for your advice.

No problem with taking Remeron and your current HIV therapy. Hope the depression responds to the Wellbutrin and Remeron; if not, you may find that adding counselling to the medications will help too.

Well done with your numbers; keep taking that successful regimen.

Facial wasting is difficult but there has been a new drug called 'Sculptra' that was recently approve by the FDA. It is injected into the area of fat loss with good success rates. Ask your doctor if he/she can do it or knows where to get it done.
