Before I started ART [highly active anti-retroviral therapy, or HAART],my weight was 78 kgm for 3 years without moving up or down, since I started ART, for the last 3 months, my weight is now 75 kgm but not lower than that.
Does starting ART have an impact on weight loss or weight reduction?
Greedy to know your professional resonse, what does such weight reduction show in health of a person?
While highly active anti-retroviral therapy does not have a direct impact on weight, it is common for people starting therapy to gain a few kilos as their health returns. Weight loss is less commonly reported.
As long as your weight does not continue to fall, I would not be too concerned. If you continue to lose weight, you should discuss this with your doctor.
