Abstract: Two trials are being conducted by the Tulane-LSU Adult AIDS Clinical Trials Unit. ACTG 384 is for patients who have not had previous antiretroviral therapy. Study objectives address when to use protease inhibitor (PI) therapy, comparisons between different drug combinations, and long-term treatment. ACTG 398 is for people who are PI experienced. The purpose of the trial is to determine the viral suppression of Amprenavir in conjunction with other antiretroviral medication. Some of the study criteria are discussed.
