Pregnant women's urine analyzed for antiviral agents.

GMHC Treat Issues. 1999 Mar;13(3):6-7. Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE AIDS/20700065

Abstract: Commercial preparations of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) inhibit growth of Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) in laboratory animals and test tube cultures. HCG is made from the urine of pregnant women, who secrete large quantities of the hormone during their first trimester. The actual mechanisms at work with HCG are still under study, but it is believed that one of the proteins in the compound is involved. Test results are presented.
