Abstract: Glaxo Wellcome is initiating an expanded access program for its new nucleoside drug, GW1592. It is suggested that, due to Glaxo's problematic drug production, the company make the liquid pediatric formulation for use by adults, make parallel small-scale production lines, or contract with other firms to do so. GW1592's optimum use requires that it be combined with at least one other potent and previously unused therapy. Simply adding it to existing regimens will only continue the harmful cycle of serial monotherapy of past years.
