Abstract: An applicant to Louisiana's Cameron College alleges that the financial aid counselor obstructed her attempt to enter the medical assistant program because she is HIV-positive. Applicant Pansy Griffin claims that counselor Pam Corona insisted that all books and uniforms be paid for in advance, a requirement not imposed on students who were not HIV-positive. The suit claims that Corona said that Griffin would probably die before repaying her Federal Pell grant. Corona argued that she cannot be held liable because she has no authority to make policy decisions at the college. A U.S. District Judge disagreed and ordered the suit to trial.
