Abstract: Research studies show that combinations of anti-HIV drugs work considerably better than any of them given alone, and have even been shown to reduce the level of HIV in the blood to undetectable levels. This overview examines all the current pharmaceuticals on the market, in combinations frequently prescribed. Side effects are detailed, guidelines are given for when to begin treatment, and the anti-HIV effect most commonly found is described. There is also a discussion on the treatment's impact on the immune system, and other treatment options that may be available.
