Abstract: Living with HIV in prison is not a pleasant experience, especially without the tools to survive. It is public knowledge that the Correctional Department is indifferent toward inmates with AIDS. Educational information for prisoners living with HIV to learn as much as possible about AIDS and their rights is provided. Medical records are confidential and cannot be revealed by medical personnel unless it is authorized by the patient. Getting involved in decision making, pursuing activities that enhance positive attitudes, and looking for educational programs are ways to ensure proper treatment in correctional facilities.
