Abstract: The Inter-Company Collaboration (ICC) recently announced that it is seeking HIV-positive participants to enroll in the first study of three-drug combinations at several research centers throughout the United States. Formed last April, the ICC is a consortium of 14 international pharmaceutical companies that have agreed to share information and drug supplies to more quickly and efficiently gain data about antiretroviral agents. ICC 001, the ICC's first trial, will evaluate three separate three-drug combinations and AZT, ddC, nevirapine, and a protease inhibitor called saquinavir. The study of 225 people will use viral load, a new DNA technology that will allow researchers to quickly determine the effects of antiretroviral agents. Participants must be 13 years of age or older, have never taken antiretrovirals, and have a T-cell count between 200 and 500. For more information call ICC's coordinating center at (800) 925-2437.
