Abstract: Mycoplasma has been implied as cofactor in AIDS (MONTAGNIER and lo Groups). We tested different species of Mycoplasma (M. hominis, U. urealyticum, M. orale, M. salivarium, M. fermentans, M. pirium, M. genitalium, etc) on in vitro cellular permissive systems for infectious agents of urogenital and pulmonary tracts (respectively: Chlamydiae Trachomatis/Mac Coy Cells and HSV/Vero Cells, Chlamydiae Twar/Hela Cells and RSV/Hep-2 or Vero Cells). In all cases, according to the kind of mycoplasma used, we got an impressive amplification of the response in terms of cytopathogenicity, antigen labelling (EIA, IF) and infectious titration, compared to unmycoplasmisated Cells (control). Cell mycoplasmisation or absence of mycoplasma cellular contamination was controlled by Dapi fluorescence technique. These results display that Mycoplasm has potentiality for being also in vivo cofactor in other pathologies than AIDS, and allow to use by MCR technology, much more sensitive in vitro cellular models taking into account the in vivo ecosystem, without any amplification of false positive signal.
