Abstract: (Producer) A wide variety of pulmonary manifestations of AIDS have been noted, including, in particular, opportunistic infections such as Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, as well as AIDS-related neoplasms such as Kaposi sarcoma. The viewer of this program will learn to evaluate specific subsets of radiographic abnormalities most frequently identified in AIDS patients and to define a meaningful approach to differential diagnosis. This includes patients with normal chest radiographs; diffuse reticular airspace and nodular lung disease; focal lung disease, including nodules with and without cavitation; and adenopathy focal, diffus, mediastinal, and hilar). Current indications for ancillary imaging modalities, including radionuclide studies and CT are explored in depth.
