Abstract: AIDS prevention efforts have not singled out heterosexual men to take responsibility for their action even if most often they seem to be in control over negotiation for safe sex with their female partners. Late last year, the Condoms Fight AIDS campaign targeted at heterosexual men was launched in three major key cities in the Philippines. Using songs aired over the radio as vehicle to carry the key messages, the campaign calls on sexually active men to take responsible action, e.g., condom use to protect their dreams, loved ones and other aspirations from being shattered by AIDS. The campaign is also supported by face-to-face interventions carried out in collaboration with other community-based non-government organizations. Public opinion so far has been favorable. The community has started to discuss AIDS openly and support for the campaign is gaining ground despite opposition from some conservative sectors in society.
