Abstract: Three rhesus monkeys were immunized four times four weeks apart with a total of 400 g of gp130 micelles per animal, mixed with KLH and emulsified in incomplete Freund's adjuvant. All immunized animals have developed antibody titers of about 10(5) against gp130. Neutralizing and CD4-binding inhibiting antibodies could also be found. The proliferative T-cell response as well as cytotoxic T-cell activity were measured. After an immunization pause of two month, the animals will be immunized again and challenged two weeks thereafter along with two naive control animals with 10 MID50 of SIVmac251/32H. The results after challenge will be presented and discussed.
