Abstract: Government-funded HIV clinical trials conducted in major medical centers are slow, excluding many HIV infected patients from participation. In response, the AIDS community has developed a network of community-based AIDS research programs, making clinical trials widely available and speeding the process by eliminating bureaucracy. Program gives physicians and smaller institutions information needed to organize and administer such trials.
