Abstract: (Producer) Testing for the presence of the HIV virus is not like testing for other viruses. For all viruses, a physician tests when it is clinically indicated; however, HIV testing requires that the physician and other health care providers provide both pre and post-test counseling to the individual. This program explains to the health care provider the necessity of making a complete sexual history part of a physical exam, and then examines which behaviors past or present could put a patient at risk for contracting the HIV virus.
