Abstract: (Producer) Larry Siegel emphasizes the correlation between the high-risk behaviors associated with addiction and exposure to AIDS, along with the positive benefits chemical dependency recovery offers those with AIDS. Dr. Siegel de-mystifies AIDS and HIV. He shows how health care workers and patients in treatment settings can protect themselves against infection, why people with alcohol and drug problems are at increased risk for HIV infection, and how alcohol and drug treatment can improve the health and chances of survival for people with AIDS or those HIV-positive. Siegel also emphasizes how important it is to distinguish between HIV exposure, infection, and AIDS.
