Abstract: (Producer) ABC news anchor Peter Jennings takes a journey across Poland to probe some of the reasons behind this country's vulnerability to AIDS including the fact that in this predominantly Roman Catholic country, condoms are not readily available. In addition, severe intravenous drug use and prostitution overtax the Polish health-care system. The second part of the program features a candid and moving monologue by Edmund White, the author of best-selling books that chronicle gay life in America, including A Boy's Own Story and The Beautiful Room Is Empty.
