Abstract: The low mol wt subfractions, designated IMREG-1 and IMREG-2, derived from human leukocyte dialysates, have been shown to enhance delayed-type hypersensitivity to recall antigens such as tetanus toxoid. IMREG-1 contains two peptides, Tyr-Gly and Tyr-Gly-Gly, which demonstrate this activity as well as enhancement of cytokine production. These peptides have not previously been shown to affect human immune function and it is of interest to note that they are identical to the amino terminal ends of the enkephalins. The chemical structure of IMREG-2 has not been determined. (4 Refs)
