Abstract: This two-part textbook and atlas provides the information and illustrations necessary to recognize the many forms of diseases associated with AIDS. The textbook details approx 30 viral, bacterial, fungal, parasitic, degenerative, and neoplastic diseases according to their etiology. Ophthalmic and cutaneous disorders and AIDS in children are also discussed. Clinical and pathological descriptions, indications for the best diagnostic procedures, and reference lists for each disease entity are included. The atlas contains, in color, clinical, radiologic, endoscopic, gross, microscopic, and ultramicroscopic pictures of practically all lesions associated with HIV infection and AIDS. The material is organized by organ system (skin, hematolymphopoietic, cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, genital, endocrine, CNS, and ophthalmic). Methods of immunohistochemistry and DNA hybridization are also illustrated, and the two sections of the book are cross-referenced.
