Abstract: Abstracts of papers reported at the World Congress III on Cancers of the Skin, held March 7-9, 1988, in Houston, are presented. The symposium was held in sessions focusing on cutaneous melanoma, basal and squamous cell carcinoma, and miscellaneous skin cancers. Selected topics in the session on cutaneous melanoma include dysplastic nevi and melanoma risk, melanoma antigens, and melanoma metastasis. Topics in the session on basal and squamous cell carcinoma include mechanisms of carcinogenesis, impact of ozone depletion on skin cancers, and the role of lasers in the management of skin cancers. Among the topics in the session on other cancers of the skin are tretinoin in the treatment of actinic keratoses and cutaneous manifestations of AIDS. Also included in this compendium are short presentations describing work in progress.
