Abstract: This volume contains abstracts of papers and posters presented at a conference on mechanisms of control of gene expression, held March 29-April 4, 1987, as one of the annual UCLA Symposia on Molecular and Cellular Biology. Conference participants reported findings in sessions on the following topics: gene regulation in prokaryotes and in eukaryotes, control of eukaryotic gene transcription by trans-acting elements and by DNA-protein interactions, post-transcriptional control of eukaryotic gene expression, RNA processing, role of oncogene proteins in the pathways that control gene expression, and mechanisms and regulation of stable RNA synthesis. Posters were exhibited in sessions on the same topics.
