Abstract: A 9-year-old with immunodeficiency developed a severe, diffuse respiratory illness that necessitated mechanical ventilation. Open lung biopsy revealed Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) as the sole pathogen. RSV detection should be included in the differential diagnosis of diffuse lung disease in an immunocompromised child.
