Abstract: A new generation of sexually transmissible diseases affects the individual by severe long lasting complications and requires public health measures. The danger for the fetus and the newborn of perinatal transmission, the risk for pregnant women of complications before, at, and after birth, as well as the evidence of connections between venereal infections and the development of cancer demand close cooperation of physicians of different branches and reorientation regarding the training of students and physicians.
