Abstract: Adult T-cell leukemia virus associated antigen (ATLA) was detected in peripheral mononuclear cells from 29 of 35 anti-ATLA-positive mothers, but was not detected in cells from any of the neonates. Cells from breast milk of all of 12 anti-ATLA-positive mothers and semen from one of three anti-ATLA positive men were ATLA-positive.
