WHAT: AIDS VIGIL & MARCH---To inspire action and compassion for the 6,000 children worldwide orphaned by AIDS each day, World Vision will host a vigil in Los Angeles. This event is in concert with World Vision's vigils in 16 cities, scheduled to circumnavigate the globe over a 24-hour period leading up to World AIDS Day. During this time, the names of 6,000 children who have lost one or both parents to AIDS will be read. At the Los Angeles vigil, the world's children will be recognized through the reading of 250 names.

6,000 Reasons to Act ... and Each Has a Name
Today, like every day year-round, 6,000 children will lose a parent to AIDS. "6,000 Reasons" is the theme World Vision has chosen to mark this year's World AIDS Day (December 1st) and the events and activities leading up to it, nationwide and globally.
The World Vision Global Vigil will occur in 16 major cites worldwide. Other activities will include the assembly of AIDS Caregiver Kits, rallies, lectures, performances, and the presentation of new research revealing global attitudes toward helping children orphaned by
AIDS. All activities are being designed to inform and motivate the public to action on behalf of orphans and children made vulnerable due to HIV/AIDS.
