The launch of the Monoject Magellan(TM) safety syringe is the culmination of two years of joint development effort between SHPI and Tyco Healthcare. Under the terms of the Development and License Agreement between SHPI and Tyco Healthcare, SHPI will receive royalty payments on all product sales.
Jeff Hunt, Director of Marketing for Kendall, said, "We are very excited about the initial targeted launch of the Monoject Magellan(TM) safety syringe. With significant advantages versus competitive safety offerings, we believe that Magellan(TM) provides the opportunity to increase our market share in this important growth segment. By providing state-of-the art, easy-to-use safety needle technology to our customers at a reasonable price, we are also doing our part to help protect the healthcare worker from accidental needlesticks and enable compliance with federal safety legislation."
Jeff Soinski, President and CEO of SHPI said, "The launch of the Monoject Magellan(TM) syringe represents a significant milestone for SHPI, in that it is the first commercial product available based upon the FlexLoc(R) medical safety needle technology. We anticipate that this product will be the first of several to be launched based upon this proprietary technology."
