Skaggs Design Teams Up With AIDS Project Los Angeles to Raise Funds And Awareness Over the Holiday Season

PRNewswire - November 6, 2001

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Since 1982, the Los Angeles AIDS Project has been at the heart of AIDS and HIV awareness, contributing millions of dollars to developing educational outreach programs and direct support services to men, women and children living with HIV and AIDS. To continue its role in raising awareness, over the holidays APLA will offer a series of holiday gift cards designed by celebrities such as Betsey Johnson, Hillary Swank and Lucy Liu. In its fourth year, the celebrity gift card fundraiser aims at making a difference in the lives of thousands while sending a message of support over the holiday season.

Designing the APLA holiday card promotional mailer that will arrive in the mailboxes of 7,500 Los Angeles companies and residents is San Francisco/New York based Skaggs Design, which contributed its design skills and print resources to help promote this worthwhile cause.

Says Jonina Skaggs, principal of Skaggs Design, "We took a look at what the APLA was involved in and realized ourselves that AIDS is a problem that needs local as well as global attention. We decided that this was a non-profit organization that we wanted to dedicate our creative talent to. After the success of the 2000 holiday card fundraiser, APLA asked us if we were still interested in giving our time to their cause. Naturally, we were and will continue to do so."

Adds Skaggs, "This is an annual fundraising event, so the concept is the same every year. Soolip Paperie created art kits for the celebrities and together, APLA, Skaggs Design and Soolip picked the favorites back in July."

The 2001 APLA fundraiser holiday cards, produced by Chronicle Books, are currently available for purchase at either Soolip Paperie & Press in Los Angeles or online at APLA's web site: http://www.apla.org.
