The annual event showcases entertainment activities at the amusement park for students from colleges and universities within the mid-Atlantic and northeast regions. This year's activities include a Greek step show and concerts featuring national recording artists. Electrifying performances are scheduled from R&B and Rap stars Rare Essence, Philly's Most Wanted, Iconz, Lil Romeo, Master P, Silk the Shocker and The Roots. The park will be closed to the general public for this collegiate special event. BET talent Joe Clair (Madd Sports), Free and AJ (106 & Park) and Malonda (BET Next) will be hosting the day. DaDa and Coca-Cola are sponsoring partners of the annual spring celebration.
Two dollars from each ticket sold at a school will benefit BET's Rap-It-Up initiative. Created and maintained by BET, Rap-It-Up is an ongoing multi- faceted national awareness and call-to-action campaign addressing HIV/AIDS in the African-American community. Joining BET in the effort are the Kaiser Family Foundation, Magic Johnson Foundation, LIFEBeat and Cable Positive. Key elements include public service announcements; general health care services; medical testing and HIV/AIDS education through the Rap-It-Up Healthmobile; and ongoing access to community-based resources, including a toll-free number for assistance: 866-RAP-IT-UP (866-727-4887); and an internet presence at http://www.rap-it-up.com .
