State laws on HIV reporting reflect both a universal agreement on the need to conduct HIV reporting and the marked disagreement on how that reporting should be conducted. "HIV Reporting in the States," the latest issue brief from the National Conference of State Legislatures' Prevention Projects Program and Health Policy Tracking Service (HPTS), provides a 50-state overview of state trends in HIV reporting.
Issue briefs bring together key developments on legislative health care trends in the states. Available free to members of the press, each brief contains 50-state charts, trend and impact analysis, and the pros and cons surrounding an issue. Other issue briefs on HIV/AIDS include:
--Partner Notification Programs
--Needle Exchange and Access to Sterile Syringes
--AIDS Drug Assistance Programs
--Criminal Transmission and Exposure
HPTS provides on-line access (www.stateserv.hpts.org) to state legislative activity on health policies and programs relative to adolescent health and HIV/AIDS/STDs. Funded by the Centers for Disease Control, the web site offers summaries of enacted legislation, daily news from the states and issue briefs.
