Minnesota AIDS Project Introduces 25 Years/25 Stories Campaign on World AIDS Day 2007

Business Wire - November 29, 2007

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota AIDS Project announced today that it will kick off a new campaign to recognize important stories and leaders in the last 25 years of fighting HIV in Minnesota. The campaign, titled 25 Years/25 Stories, will launch on World AIDS Day 2007 (December 1) with the story of the first case of HIV in the state.

The Minnesota AIDS Project will recognize its 25th year of service in 2008. Since its inception, the agency has helped thousands of people living with HIV through programs and services as well as serving as a trusted resource for information and education to all Minnesotans.

Beginning in January 2008, a new story will be posted at www.mnaidsproject.org every two weeks. Within these stories readers will find a wide range of perspectives and emotions. Some will tell tales of victories, personal stories, legal milestones, and others will demonstrate how far we have yet to go in order to stop HIV.

In addition to the 25 Years/25 Stories campaign, students from the McNally Smith College of Music will perform at the Rotunda in the Mall of America from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, to bring attention to the ongoing fight against HIV.

There will be four segments to the performance which will include traditional holiday classics, a performance of songs from "The Gift of Hope," McNally Smith's 2007 holiday CD that benefits the Minnesota AIDS Project, and performances by faculty and student ensembles. "The Gift of Hope" will be available for sale during the show with all proceeds going to the Minnesota AIDS project to help fight HIV and promote AIDS awareness. The CD is also available for purchase at Minnesota Whole Foods locations and at www.mnaidsproject.org.

The Minnesota AIDS Project works statewide to prevent the spread of HIV in Minnesota and reduce the challenge of living with HIV through programs, partnerships, and initiatives to engage every member of our community to take responsibility and care about HIV.
