Dr. James Koziarz Joins Newly Formed Chembio Advisory Board; Led Abbott Diagnostics R&D/HIV Test Development Efforts

MEDFORD, N.Y. -- Chembio Diagnostics, Inc. (OTCBB:CEMI) announced today that Dr. James J. Koziarz has joined its newly formed Advisory Board. The Advisory Board members are individuals who have held leadership positions in research, diagnostic product development, and public health, and who support Chembio's goal of ensuring sustainable supplies of simple, accurate, cost-effective rapid tests to all who need them around the world. Dr. Koziarz is a pre-eminent diagnostics industry research and development professional with over 25 years of diagnostic product development, marketing, quality and operational experience at Abbott Laboratories.

Dr. Koziarz brings a wealth of experience in HIV testing to this position. He served as Corporate Vice President, Diagnostic Products Research and Development at Abbott Laboratories for 12 years. In the course of his 25 years of service in the Diagnostics Division, he headed the Hepatitis/Retrovirus business unit, and in that capacity was responsible for the development and launch of Abbott's extensive line of HIV tests. He has experience in product development, customer and operational support, and regulatory compliance across a wide spectrum of laboratory tests, including assays for blood screening, thyroid function, and cancer. Dr. Koziarz received his Doctorate in Biochemistry from the University of Chicago in 1976 and did post-doctoral research at the University of Chicago from 1976-1979 as a recipient of an NIH National research Service Award. He joined Abbott's Diagnostic Division as a research scientist in 1979.
