Bush Communications Builds and Donates New Web Site for Project Angel Food

Business Wire - July 22, 1999

MARINA DEL REY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 22, 1999--To Help Celebrate Project Angel Food's 10th Anniversary, New Site is Launched at the Organization's 1999 Angel Awards

To help Los Angeles-based non-profit organization Project Angel Food celebrate its 10th anniversary, Bush Communications Inc., a Marina Del Rey marketing communications firm, designed and donated a new Web site to the charity. The site debuted July 10 at Project Angel Food's annual gala awards event, the Angel Awards.

Project Angel Food prepares and delivers over 1,200 warm meals daily to housebound AIDS patients throughout the greater Los Angeles area. The site Bush Communications created for the organization offers a glimpse into its work and mission.

Opening with a flash animation featuring photos and quotes from three individuals -- a client, Project Angel Food's Executive Director John Gile and 10th Anniversary Fund Co-Chair Whoopi Goldberg -- the site features a variety of areas for visitors to browse.

"News From the Front" offers news about the organization, its work and the fight against AIDS. "The Angel Mercantile" is an electronic "store" featuring a variety of Project Angel Food-related gift merchandise available for purchase online. "Earn Your Wings" offers visitors a range of opportunities to contribute to the Project Angel Food cause, from donating to volunteering.

The site also features a historical timeline, a calendar, an electronic "Memory Book" and more. A Spanish-language version of the site will also soon be available.

"Bush Communications has created and donated a beautiful site that we are proud to have representing our organization on the Web," said Ken Hurd, director of development and communications at Project Angel Food. "It's so much more than what we had before, and so much more than we expected. Beyond simply being a wonderfully creative site visually, it's well organized and easy to navigate, and really captures the spirit of love and commitment that are the foundation of our work.

"With the ability to present and share critical information and with online donation opportunities like the Memory Book, the site really prepares our organization to move into the 21st century."

Project Angel Food's Angel Awards is an annual event honoring those who have made a significant contribution to the organization's cause. The 1999 Angel Awards where the new Web site was presented, held July 10 in Hollywood, Calif., honored the countless volunteers who have given their time to help prepare and deliver meals.

The evening's guest of honor, Elizabeth Taylor, accepted a special award for her lifetime contribution in the fight against AIDS.

"It was incredibly rewarding for us to become involved with an organization as important as Project Angel Food, and we were honored to present this Web site as our contribution to their cause," said William Bush, chief executive officer of Bush Communications.

"They are doing such significant work in feeding and helping to alleviate the isolation and loneliness felt by people suffering from AIDS, that when we were given the opportunity to create this site, we leapt at it.

"We enjoy the sites we do for our regular clients in industries like high-tech and entertainment, but being able to contribute to a cause like this gave us tremendous satisfaction. Like the work Project Angel Food does, building this site was for us a labor of love."
