"Psychological, Medical and Social Issues of HIV/AIDS" will take place on Saturday, April 17, from 9 am to 5 pm, at the UC Extension Center, 55 Laguna Street, San Francisco. This one-day course is designed for counselors, nurses, psychologists, social workers and graduate students who are beginning work with people living with HIV. The instructor will cover topics such as the epidemiological, medical, cultural and political aspects of HIV, interventions, case management and treatment and the legal and ethical issues surrounding HIV. It will be offered every semester, and, this fall, it will be offered in Redwood City. The course meets the Board of Behavioral Sciences requirements for the HIV licensing of MFCCs and LCSWs.
Instructor David Jull Johnson is a licensed clinical researcher in private practice and an award-winning instructor at UC San Francisco School of Medicine. He has more than 15 years of experience in research and clinical work with women, children and men with HIV.
