The patient is receiving T-20 by continuous subcutaneous infusion via an infusion device developed by MiniMed Inc. (NASDAQ: MNMD - news), a product currently approved for insulin infusion by diabetics, in combination with three other antiretrovirals. A significant reduction in viral load and an increase in T cell count have been maintained over the first 20 weeks of the study in this patient, who had failed a regimen including protease inhibitors. Based on these encouraging results, the company plans to expand enrollment in this trial during 1999.
TRI-003, a 28-day Phase II trial of T-20 therapy in 78 patients, is currently in progress and fully enrolled. The Company expects to report results from this trial in early 1999.
