BUSINESS WIRE; Wednesday March 18, 10:01 am EST

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 18, 1998--The Being Alive/West Hollywood HIV Day Program is offering Wednesday ALIVE, a new vocational services program for people with AIDS who are interested in returning to work.

Wednesday ALIVE services are available every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the HIV Day Center, 621 N. San Vicente Blvd. in West Hollywood. The "ALIVE" in Wednesday ALIVE is an acronym for the services provided through the program, which include Activities, Lectures, In-house Training, Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Counseling.

Program participants may schedule appointments with job counselors from the California Department of Rehabilitation, public benefits counselors from AIDS Projects Los Angeles (APLA), and staff from West Hollywood Employment Services and Training (WHEST). Emotional support counseling is also available.

Participation in Wednesday ALIVE is free.

Wednesday ALIVE addresses issues such as maintaining benefits, following medication regimens in the workplace, and the psychosocial impact of "returning to life" after preparing for death. The program is sponsored by the City of West Hollywood, the Being Alive/PWA Action Coalition, and the West Hollywood Employment Services and Training program of Jewish Vocational Services. People interested in participating in Wednesday ALIVE should call Greg Cordona at the Being ALIVE/West Hollywood HIV Day Program at 310/289-2551.
