Viatical companies provide accelerated life insurance settlements for terminally ill individuals who receive a percentage of the policy's total value before they die. The settlement money is often used to pay for medical expenses, housing and other needs.
California was the first state to require licensing in the viatical settlement industry. Page & Associates applied for this license more than a year ago and had officially operated with a pending license.

Last month, Page & Associates also was the first company granted full licensure by the Florida Department of Insurance.
