This is the second patent the company has been issued relating to the prevention of HIV infection.

PRO 2000 is active against a wide range of HIV strains in vitro, as well as against other sexually transmitted disease pathogens, such as herpes simplex virus type 2, a cause of genital lesions. Clinical studies are ongoing to assess the safety of PRO 2000 gel in women. Based on these results additional safety studies will be conducted in populations at high risk for HIV infection.
