HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill.--(BW HealthWire)--Aug. 13, 1997--Home Access Health Corp., maker of Home Access Express(R) HIV test system, will offer a free HIV test kit to consumers who have purchased Confide(R) and are unable to obtain their test result as a result of Johnson & Johnson's June 26, 1997 announcement that it would be withdrawing Confide(R) from the market.

"People who are trying to get tested for HIV need to know that there is a safe and accurate at-home alternative," commented Richard A. Quattrocchi, president, Home Access Health Corp.

According to J&J, consumers who purchased Confide(R) and did not ship their test sample to the laboratory for processing by Friday, Aug. 8, 1997 will not be able to obtain their HIV test result.

People who are unable to obtain a test result using Confide(R) can call Home Access Health at 1-800-HIV-TEST (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) and can have a free Home Access Express (results in 3 days) test kit shipped directly to their home at no charge. Free replacement kits can only be obtained by calling 1-800-HIV-TEST with proof of purchase information. This offer will remain in effect until Oct. 31, 1997.

Cleared by the FDA in July 1996, Home Access Express (results in 3 days) Home Access (results in about a week) allow people to anonymously test for HIV within the privacy of their own home.
