It is the first company to patent homeopathic growth factors for use as an alternative medicine, developed by Dr. Barbara Brewitt, Biomed chief scientific officer.
In 1995, Brewitt's clinical study of a combination of four homeopathic growth factors on HIV-positive individuals successfully demonstrated positive, statistically significant outcomes. The double-blind placebo study was conducted with the assistance of the University of Washington and Bastyr University, Seattle.
Thirty HIV/AIDS patients using the combination of four homeopathic growth factors experienced: a decrease in HIV viral infection; CD4 cell counts that increased over time; weight gain of an average of 10 pounds; less general inflammation and infection; improved immune function; an absence of opportunistic infections; and improved mineral status in the blood.
The results of the clinical studies have been recognized by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Alternative Medicine (OAM) with a technical merit, number one rating for alternative approaches to HIV/AIDS.
The proposed cost of the new, over-the-counter therapy of the four homeopathic growth factors is $1,440 per year.

Growth factors represent a specific class of proteins produced by the human body, and regulate cell growth, division, and specialization. They enable cells to communicate with one another, and are termed by Biomed as Cell Signal Enhancers, CSEs.
