In addition to on-air sponsorship mentions and commercial spots, MTV, during its four hour World AIDS Day programming, will make available a Home Access 800 number that will allow viewers 18 years and older to call in and receive a free HIV-1 test kit from Home Access.
"World AIDS Day is a solemn day of remembrance for all people who have been lost to AIDS and the valiant heroes who continue to battle the ignorance and fear associated with HIV and AIDS," said Richard A. Quattrocchi, president of Home Access Health Corporation. "We applaud MTV and VH1 for once again demonstrating a social conscience on an important issue that is impacting more and more young adults."
MTV's special World AIDS Day programming will run from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, December 1 and will include the premiere of Positively Global: An MTV News World AIDS Day Report, as well as popular MTV specials including Smart Sex, A Tribute to Pedro Zamora, and Sex in the 90's: The Safest Sex of All.
On VH1, the special programming airs at various times during the day from 11 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. EST and includes The LIFEbeat Concert: The Beat Goes On III, the World AIDS Day News Special and the concert Queen at Wembley.
In July, Home Access received FDA clearance to market its anonymous HIV-1 test systems, Home Access(TM) and Home Access Express(TM). Both systems allow clients to anonymously collect a blood sample, access professional pre-test and post-test counseling 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and receive test results in either three business days or one week, depending on the type of collection kit purchased.
